Principal's Message

Welcome back Solano families,

I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer break and practiced Habit #7 – Sharpening the Saw.  It is hard to believe that we are only weeks away from starting the 2023-2024 school year.

I look forward to continuing the exemplary work that has been occurring at our school to nurture and support our students to be, Empowered Learners, Innovative Thinkers, and Courageous Leaders”.  Providing students with a safe place to learn, enriched learning opportunities, and student voice complement "The Leader in Me" and aligns to our LAUSD 2022-2026 Strategic Plan to get our Scholars "Ready for the World".  With a dedicated staff, we will continue the work that has made Solano Avenue Elementary a Leader in Me Lighthouse school and a CA Distinguished School.

Our Solano staff is looking forward to welcoming our Scholars smiling faces and hear how they spent their summer break.  Our first day of school is Monday, August 14, 2023.  School begins at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 2:23 p.m.  We will open our gates at 7:30am and morning drop-off will continue on Solano Avenue in front of our school via valet.  Children will exit their cars on the passenger (right) side.  Students will continue to enter through the lower playground and line up according to their classroom.  No students should be dropped off before 7:30 a.m. as there is no supervision prior to that time.

During the first of week of school, focus will be on connecting everyone to our school.  The main goal is to have kids enjoy coming to school and feeling comfortable with learning.  We want our Scholars to feel safe and be excited about returning to Solano.

Thank you for your continued trust.  We look forward to seeing our community on August 14th.  Let's make this a fantastic year.

In partnership,

Jorge Parra Jr. - Principal

As a school community, we create year-long academic and personal goals to work towards.  Our Wildly Important Goals (WIG's) are aligned to our School Plan for Student Achievement.  Our Solano Scholars track their progress in their Leadership Notebooks and use this tool to reflect on their learning during the academic year.
